JEE Main 2027 will be one of the most important national-level engineering entrance examinations for students aiming to get admission into top engineering institutions such as NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes. JEE Main 2027 Syllabus
The JEE Main syllabus generally includes three major subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For Paper 1 B.E./B.Tech, the latest official syllabus lists Mathematics topics such as sets, relations and functions, complex numbers, matrices, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, sequence and series, calculus, coordinate geometry, vectors, statistics, probability and trigonometry. Physics includes units such as units and measurements, kinematics, laws of motion, work-energy-power, rotational motion, gravitation, thermodynamics, current electricity, magnetism, optics, modern physics and experimental skills. Chemistry is divided into Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry.
JEE Main 2027 Exam Pattern
The JEE Main exam pattern helps students understand the number of questions, marking scheme, mode of exam and subject-wise distribution. In the latest official pattern for Paper 1 B.E./B.Tech, the exam is conducted in Computer-Based Test mode and includes Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with equal weightage. Each subject has Section A and Section B questions, and the marking scheme gives +4 marks for a correct answer, -1 mark for an incorrect answer and 0 marks for unanswered questions. Numerical value questions also follow negative marking in the latest pattern.
JEE Main Marks vs Percentile
JEE Main marks vs percentile helps students estimate their percentile score based on their raw marks. However, marks and percentile are not always fixed because JEE Main is conducted in multiple shifts, and the difficulty level may vary from one shift to another. NTA converts the raw marks of candidates into NTA Scores for multi-shift papers. The best of the two total NTA scores is considered for candidates appearing in both sessions, as per the latest official process.
JEE Main Cutoff
The JEE Main cutoff is the minimum qualifying percentile required to become eligible for the next stage, especially JEE Advanced. The cutoff changes every year depending on factors such as the number of candidates, difficulty level of the paper, category, number of available seats and overall performance of students. For JEE Main 2027, the official cutoff will be released only after the result, so students should use previous year cutoffs only as a reference, not as a final prediction.
The JEE Main general cutoff is usually the highest among all categories. In the official JEE Main 2026 result notice for Paper 1, the category-wise cutoff table showed UR-ALL cutoff from 100 to 93.4123549 percentile, meaning the general category qualifying cutoff was around 93.41 percentile for eligibility to JEE Advanced 2026. For JEE Main 2027, the general cutoff may increase or decrease depending on competition, paper difficulty and total number of candidates.
