Example: If one packet of milk costs ₹30, then 3 packets cost: 30 × 3 = ₹90

B) Students use arithmetic to calculate marks, percentages, averages, and rankings.

Example:

If a student gets 450 marks out of 500, then:

Percentage = 450 ÷ 500 × 100 = 90%

C) Shopkeepers and business owners use arithmetic to calculate profit, loss, discount, tax, bills, and salaries.

Example:

If an item is bought for ₹500 and sold for ₹650, then:

Profit = ₹650 − ₹500 = ₹150

D) Arithmetic is used in calculating interest, loan amount, savings, deposits, and installments.

Example:

Simple interest is calculated using arithmetic formulas.

Arithmetic is used to measure ingredients and adjust recipes.

E) Example:

If a recipe requires 2 cups of flour for 4 people, then for 8 people we need 4 cups of flour.

F) Arithmetic is used to calculate distance, speed, time, fare, and fuel cost.

Example:

If a bus travels 60 km in 2 hours, then its speed is:

60 ÷ 2 = 30 km/h

G) Arithmetic is used in measuring length, area, volume, material quantity, cost, and labour charges.

Example:

A mason uses arithmetic to calculate the number of bricks needed for a wall.

H) Arithmetic is used in experiments, measurements, data recording, and calculations.

Example: Scientists use arithmetic to calculate temperature, mass, speed, and volume.

I) Arithmetic is used to calculate scores, averages, rankings, time, speed, and points.

Example: In cricket, batting average is calculated using arithmetic.

J) Computers, calculators, and software use arithmetic operations to process data and solve problems.

Example: A calculator performs addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within seconds.
