About Lesson
Closure, Commutativity, Associativity, and Distributive Properties General Meaning
- A set of numbers is closed under an operation if performing that operation on any two numbers in the set results in a number that also belongs to the set.
- An operation is commutative if changing the order of numbers does not change the result.
- An operation is associative if the way numbers are grouped does not affect the result.
- The distributive property links multiplication with addition or subtraction.
